It’s my birthday month!
Over this past weekend, I turned to social media to ask what I should do for my birthday since I had no clue of what to do. My friend suggested that I do 22 things for my 22nd birthday weekend. I thought it was a great idea!
Sleep in
I had a friend suggest to sleep the day away and I almost did! Taz and I stayed in bed until 8 a.m. and if you know us, that’s a huge deal. It was glorious.
Waffle Breakfast
In my opinion, no birthday is perfect unless there’s waffles. My husband, Taz, was so sweet and insisted on making one for me with whipped cream and strawberries. He spoiled me all day but this started it out right.
Unboxing/Unwrapping
My mom sent me a box for my birthday so we spent part of the morning opening fun gifts. Taz knows my personality and gave me my gifts when he bought them so I unwrapped them earlier in the week. He knows how hard it is for me to wait haha.
Facetime Family
I facetimed my mom in the morning and contacted the rest of my family on both sides throughout the day. I definitely felt very loved!
Stay in pajamas until noon
I would like to say that I only do this on my birthday but that isn’t entirely true!
Wear a new outfit.
I love to go shopping but I am sure that is no secret. I got a bunch of new clothes for my birthday and got to wear some for the first time.
Tubing
My birthday is in the winter. I wish I was on the beach instead but I decided to accept the weather and went tubing. Taz has never been before so we definitely needed to go. We bought a tube at Target that looked like a doughnut (so cool!) and went to Rock Canyon Park in Provo. This is my favorite place to go sledding/tubing. I ended up with a bruise on the side of my leg with the exact imprint of the handle but all in all it was a good time.
Go out to lunch
I think majority of my birthday included food which is great! We went out to lunch to Guru’s on Center Street. It has a little bit of everything but the sweet potato fries are to DIE for! I don’t typically like fry sauce either which is pretty much a sin in Utah but theirs is great too.
Try something new
I had heard a lot about the Provo Bakery but have never been before. I probably walked past it multiple times in the past but I finally went. I got a cupcake and Taz got a variety of sweets. It definitely did not disappoint. I have a feeling we will go back frequently.
Treat yourself
Majority of retail stores will give discounts during birthday months. Ulta is one of my favorite stores and I could spend hours there much to Taz’s dismay. Birthday months get double the points plus a gift. They gave me Benefit’s POREfessional Face Primer. I have been wanting to try it for a long time and will definitely share it’s quality when I test it.
Watch a Movie
Taz and I love to watch movies together and my birthday was no different. I got to pick the movie and it was Crazy, Stupid, Love of course. I love Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone together! This movie and LaLa Land are definitely two of my favorites.
Rest
I am a firm believer in rest. Taking some time to rejuvenate and breathe is much needed everyday.
Eat my favorite meal
We went to dinner at La Dolce Vita which is a really cute Italian restaurant on Center Street in Provo. It’s the most authentic food I have had outside of Italy so I love to eat there. It has my favorite pasta dishes. The service may not be the best but the food makes up for it.
Spend time with friends
We went out with my friends to spend time together. It was a blast and I feel so loved and blessed to have so many amazing people in my life.
Play with a dog
This may sound funny to some people that this is on the list but I love dogs! They are my favorite animal and all I wanted to do was go to a place that had puppies so I could go play with them. I didn’t get a chance to go anywhere but my friend, Claire brought her dog with her! I spent some time with them and fulfilled one of the things I wanted to do that day.
Buy a sweet treat
When we gathered with our friends we got ice cream at Roll With It Creamery. It’s one of my favorite places. They have unlimited toppings and roll the ice cream into sushi rolls.
Buy furniture
I have been wanting to add a couple things to our living room and move furniture around. It is a little cramped in there and we needed more storage. We went to the best store (aka Target) to get some furniture to spruce up our small apartment.
Rearrange/Remodel
As an “old” married couple, we try to go to bed earlier than most people. We stayed up late on Saturday night rearranging our home to create more room for each other and so we can invite our friends over. It turned out wonderfully and I think it looks the best it ever has. We love to be social and I think this space will be able to keep that going.
Cook together
As i mentioned before, Italian is my favorite food. I learned how to make pasta from scratch about a year ago and I make it all the time now. Taz is a much better cook than I am but I always enjoy when we get a chance to cook together even though our kitchen is tiny.
Treats, treats, and more treats
Dessert isn’t something we get very often even though we love it. We definitely indulged in treats all weekend long. We had all the ice cream, cupcakes, brownies and chocolate we could get our hands on!
Be with your spouse/significant other
The best part of the entire weekend was getting to be with Taz. We are around each other majority of the time but I am happy to have someone who likes to be with me too. He’s my best friend and made my weekend extra special.
Do what you love
All weekend long I just got to do what I love to do. No homework. No school. No dishes. It made me realize that we need to treat ourselves more often since we only get one life to live. Always do what you love no matter what others think of you.
My birthday weekend is definitely one I will never forget. Thank you to all those who shared in the festivities with me and for all the delicious food. I probably could’ve done more than 22 things for my 22nd birthday weekend but you need some things to do for the rest of the year. Love you all!
