How to take care of your hair in 3 easy steps.
If you don’t take care of your hair, it may do more damage than favors to you. Your hair routine makes it or breaks it for your good (or bad) hair day. I get a lot of questions about hair care and the different things I use on a regular basis so here’s my list of the best hair routine products.
Before Showering
Hair Mask
Since I don’t wash my hair very often, sometimes my hair will get dry and brittle on the ends. I put a quarter-sized amount of my favorite L’Oreal hair mask on the ends of my hair to restore the moisture. I didn’t have to do this before since I lived in a humid area, but this has totally saved my hair while living here in Utah. Leave it in for 5-10 minutes and then rinse it out once you are in the shower.
Washing Hair Routine
Daily Shampoo and Conditioner
I’ve tested tons of different shampoos and conditioners and there is one kind that I always go back to. I use Biolage Hydrasource shampoo and conditioner in order to get the maximum moisture retention. It is so unbelievably dry here that it can be hard to not fry your hair once you attempt styling it. This protects your luscious locks and prevents breakage.
Purple Shampoo
Depending on how often I wash my hair, I use purple shampoo to keep my hair from getting brassy. A lot of people with highlights don’t realize how hard it is to keep up, but Kenra Purple Shampoo seems to do the trick!
While Your Hair is Damp
Leave-In Conditioner
I’ve mentioned this in a previous blog post, but I always spray It’s a 10 Leave In Conditioner throughout my hair and then brush through with a detangling brush.
Argan Oil
This is optional, but sometimes I put argan oil through the ends as well to make styling much easier.
Styling/Maintaining Hair Routine
A tip for finding styling tools is to get ones that have high temperatures. It’s better for your hair to have it hotter for a shorter amount of time rather than a low temperature for a long period of time. The Beachwaver is what I use on a regular basis, but lately, I use the NuMe Pearl wand for these loose mermaid curls. Spray Dove Hairspray when you’re finished to keep the curls in place without making it heavy with product.
When I go to sleep, I put my hair in a loose bun on top of my head so I can go 4-5 days without washing or styling my hair. I use Batiste dry shampoo on my roots in order to reduce the oil and keep it fresh.
I hope that answered all of your questions about my hair routine. If there’s anything else you would like to know, feel free to ask!
