My favorite fall outfits that won’t break the bank!
Today I wanted to talk about fall outfits so you can see what I’ll be wearing for fall and some of my favorite trends this season. (I also did a mini try on session here!) I’ll be walking through each piece so you are more than welcome to watch it in the video I included or read this post to get the links.
Tops
One of my favorite fall outfits is to wear is a front tie top. I’ve seen this around a lot since the summer and I can’t get over how much I love it! They’re great for looking kind of slouchy and bringing some visual interest to the clothes that I’m wearing. I always like to find basic pieces with a little bit of interest so that’s why I love the tie. This is one of my favorite trends to wear! One of my favorite fall outfits is this top paired with a cardigan and jeans or tucked into a skirt.
One of my other favorite pieces to include in my fall outfits is a peplum. I’ve seen peplums around forever and I used to wear them all the time in high school. They’re back in style and I forgot how much I love how it pulls away from the body so it gives you that hourglass shape. One of the fall outfits you can wear is to pair this with a cardigan or layer a sweater over the top. I also pair this with skirts but with more of a pencil skirt rather than an a-line skirt to give you that hourglass shape like I mentioned before.
Dresses
Now I want to talk about my favorite fall outfits revolving around dresses. I love pieces that can transition from the summer into fall. That’s about the best of the best I can get in Florida without completely melting. This is a really thick basic striped dress. It’s made from a kind of sweatshirt material. I like dresses like this because it has a little bit more of a structure, but it’s still really lightweight. Even if you wanted to wear this throughout fall and into winter, you can wear it with a sweater, leggings and boots, but I usually wear it with a light cardigan.
If you can’t tell from my Instagram feed, I am OBSESSED with button dresses! I have a couple of these and they’re super cute. They’re perfect if you’re nursing and I know a bunch of my friends love them for that reason. It’s a really good basic dress that I love to wear with a cardigan, layering a sweater over the top or honestly just by itself. They’re super comfortable and one of my favorite fall outfits!
Basics
I want to talk a little more about basics and layering. The key to surviving fall and winter is layers. When I was in Utah, that was the only way to get dresses since it would be freezing in the morning and stifling hot in the afternoon. I love short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, cardigan, sweater, really allllll the things. Now that I live in Florida, I live off of basic t-shirts and thin cardigans, but no matter where you are, layers are definitely important. For t-shirts, I get different colors for different seasons so I can mix and match all year long.
I really like getting different pieces I can wear under or over things which is why I got this striped button up shirt. I can wear it under a sweater or with a cardigan. It’s super lightweight and perfect for layering. However, I would recommend finding a longer button up shirt so it doesn’t ride up like this one does.
Like I said before, I love wearing basics with a little bit of detail which is why I’m dying over this embroidered shirt. This brown, mustard color is a must for fall and I love the details of the true embroidery. Pairing this with a pair of distressed jeans or a skirt is one of my favorite fall outfits.
Sweaters
During the fall, layering is a must like I said before. Sweaters are one of my favorite things to wear. I was a little sad when we moved to Florida because I knew I wouldn’t get to wear them very often. Thankfully, I do get to wear sweater if they’re pretty lightweight and that’s why I really like dusters. My favorite one is super long! I love the gray heathered color and is a great basic to wear with the majority of my outfits. It works well for layering so you can wear a sweater under it when it’s really cold or a t-shirt on warmer days.
And you can’t have fall without super chunky knit sweaters! This sweater was my very favorite thing to wear in Utah. I don’t have much use for it in Florida but I am going somewhere cold for the holidays so I keep it around. This is the best comfiest, coziest, knit sweater. I love how super soft it is. It’s seriously like wearing a blanket. It looks super cute with jeans or tucked into a leather skirt for an edgier look (for as edgy as I can look haha.)
Denim
Getting new jeans is a must for my fall outfits. I wear this pair with nearly everything. I’m obsessing over the raw hem and I’m tempted to cut nearly every pair of jeans I own.
Those are my favorite pieces that make up my fall outfits on repeat. These things I specifically got for fall and I pair them with some of my other things I got in past seasons. Let me know what you’re loving this fall and/or what your favorite pieces were.
XOXO Kayla
