Summer Closet Staples to Wear All Season Long to Transition Into Fall
You always hear about finding ‘closet staples’ but what does that even mean? I wanted to walk through how I go about picking different items to be included and share two of my go-to summer closet staples this year. It can be a daunting task to know what to include but I know these two pieces are something I’ll be wearing again and again.
How to Pick Tops/Bottoms
I like to find different pieces that can be worn multiple different ways and have a little visual interest! This means I’m drawn to items with a fun sleeve, color, pattern, texture, cut, etc. My Sister’s Closet Boutique sent me the Flourish Tee in Rust and I CANNOT get over the color! It’s gorgeous and has the perfect sleeve length so it makes the arms look a little more flattering. The entire tee is covered in true embroidered flowers and has the softest material.
It pairs well with jeans, paper bag pants, a skirt, shorts, and more! I’m happy to find more colorful pieces to include this in my summer closet staples because I typically stick with more neutral colors. I can’t get enough orange/rust right now and think the color is the perfect transition going into fall.
The same can be said for bottoms. Every summer, I find one or two good pairs of shorts, a couple of skirts and one pair of jeans to cycle through. I have all these items together in my closet so I can pick outfits effortlessly so I don’t even have to think about it at all.
How to Pick Dresses
This is the BEST part for me. 80% of the dresses in my closet are from My Sister’s Closet Boutique. They have so many gorgeous options for a fraction of the price of other boutiques. If you have been around a while, you know I love a screaming deal so if I see a dress and they say they will have it in a couple weeks, I would rather wait and find a better price.
When looking for a dress, look at print, color and fit to see if it can be styled in a variety of ways. One of my all time favorite dresses from them is the Fanfare Polka Dot Dress. It’s SO good! The flutter sleeves, tied waist, and wrap skirt make me so happy! Plus the polka dots are so cute. I would recommend sizing up if you have a larger bust but other than that it fits like a glove.
This dress is a perfect option to dress up and down. Layer it with a denim jacket and sandals or wear it with heels and some statement jewelry. I think this is another great fall transitional piece with a pair of booties and a bomber jacket or pea coat.
As you can see, there’s a ton of options for styling each piece which makes each outfit even more creative. I love being able to share how you can get the most out of your wardrobe and I hope you enjoyed this.
