Focus on what truly matters this season.
It took me a lot longer to write this blog post than normal because I haven’t been following my own advice. I got swept up in last minute Christmas shopping, cleaning, and traveling these past few days. My EXHAUSTED body wants to sleep, but my break begins today. I’m sure I’m not the only drained soul during this time of year so I’m sharing my tips on how to slow down during the holidays.
Don’t become frustrated
My first tip is to learn to let go. My immediate reaction is the opposite. I basically had a meltdown on Instagram stories last week about the lack of chocolate oranges at the store. I become really stressed out during this time of year. Thankfully, my boss was able to let me have a few days off to spend time with my family and close relatives in Arizona. Not letting little things bother me and learning to let go is a huge lesson that I’ve had to learn. I realize the holidays become easier with less stress.
Spend quality time with friends and family
I would say not to use electronics, but that is one of the only ways Taz and I can talk to our families since we live so far away. We try to be as selective as we can when it comes to using technology and spending more quality time with one another.
Have fun!
Enjoy the time with loved ones. Taz and I live 3000 miles away from our families and the time we get to spend with them is so precious. This year, I got to take him to Arizona for the first time to see my grandparents. I planned this trip. I can’t wait to see how it will turn out.
Those are my few ways to slow down during the holidays. How do you take time for yourself? I found when I focus on others rather than myself, it makes it easier to take it slow. Merry Christmas! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
