Celebrating our 2nd anniversary talking about the 10 reasons why marriage is the best!
I can’t believe Taz and I are married for two years on Sunday! I love living live with him. We have been together for almost three, married for two and we have known each other for nine! It’s so crazy how fast time flies. There’s nothing better than marriage. I realize that others aren’t so lucky with their relationships depending on the circumstances and I am lucky that I do not have to deal with that. Taz and I do have our differences, but the good definitely outweighs the bad in our case. He’s my very best friend and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I framed out this blog post earlier this week and it was hard to narrow it down to the 10 best things about marriage. I’m sure I missed a lot of things I love, but here’s the first ones that came to mind.
#1: Having a Standing Date
I never have to worry about who I will bring as plus one to a wedding or double date. I can’t stress how relieving this was for me.
#2: Sharing a Life
No matter what either one of us are going through, we go through it together. Through every success and failure, we have each other.
#3: Having A Constant Support System
It’s really helpful to have someone supporting me throughout whatever I put my mind to. With my blog, job and other endeavors, it’s important to me to have some form of validation.
#4: Built in best friend
He is my cheerleader and partner in crime. I never have to worry about being judged and I can embrace my real, honest self.
#5: Put Each Other First
I will be talking about this more at a later time, but this is one of the biggest things I’ve had to learn in our marriage and it’s one of the reasons why marriage is the best! Life can get super crazy trying to balance work and life. However, when we put each other first, everything is worth it. I try my hardest to take out my selfish tendencies and see what I can do for him before me and he does the same.
#6: Cuddling
I’ll be honest: I’ve never been much of a cuddler. I like it now, especially since we live in a cold place haha. I’m still not a super touchy feely person, but he’s an exception of course.
#7: Having a Rock
When I’m having a bad day, he is my rock. Sometimes I can’t put 100% into our relationship that day and he makes up the difference and picks up my slack when I need help. I never thought I would have to learn dependency in a marriage, but a relationship doesn’t work with two independent people. We need each other to make things work.
#8: Shared Goals
We have similar goals and desires that we can work on together whether that be for business ventures, religion, or self improvement. I really thrive with having someone to hold me accountable to things like that.
#9: Telepathy
This sounds so silly, but I really think he can read my mind sometimes. It’s either that or I’m very predictable haha.
#10: Late Night Talks
There’s nothing better than late night talks about everything from what food we would bring to a deserted island to where we want to end up in 5 years. It’s like having a sleepover every night!
My marriage is far from perfect, but I wouldn’t trade anything we have for the world. We haven’t been married very long, but I love how we’ve grown in these past two years from where we started out. These are only 10 out of dozens of reasons why marriage is the best for us, but it may be different in your situation. Tell me your favorite parts of your marriage or relationship in the comments.
XOXO Kayla
