What we’ve been doing for the past six months and our plans for the future:
We’ve been in Florida for six months!!! (Say, what?!?!) I cannot believe it! It simultaneously feels like three weeks and three years since we left Utah. Thankfully, we have incredible technology so it’s been a lifesaver in keeping in contact with my dear friends back in the Beehive State. Moving to Florida has changed everything for Taz and I. From our marriage to our business, nothing is the same as before. It’s not all sunshine and beach days, even though sometimes I wish it was haha. Here’s what we’ve been up to the past six months:
Marriage
Our marriage was tried and tested in ways I never imagined. However, we have never been closer than we are now. Even if sometimes we feel like things are crumbling around us, we never have to worry about each other which is the biggest blessing I could have ever asked for.
We had to learn how to be around each other 24/7 since we never have before. We go days without seeing anyone else and take breaks when needed. It was weird and distracting to be around each other all the time when we were trying to work but we are in a good rhythm now.
Family Life
A big point of moving to Florida was to be closer to family. We both are some of the oldest children in our families so it’s been really fun to see our siblings more often. It’s my sister’s last year of high school and I love being able to be near her especially before she heads off to college. She got accepted to Brigham Young University which is where I went to school AND my parents so to say we are proud is an understatement.
Also, we bounced back and forth between our families on each coast of Florida in the beginning. Living with family definitely isn’t easy but it’s helped us get to know each others’ families a lot better than we did before from living in Utah.
We decided that Tampa is a better scene for us and we can see us growing our businesses and our future family by the Gulf Coast. While I love the Space Coast, the opportunity for growth is limited. Currently, we are apartment hunting since we are staying just north of the Tampa area and want to be further south. A couple people asked if we would be moving closer to Orlando so we can split the difference between families. While that’s a good idea, it’s not worth it to live in Florida without a beach nearby haha.
Career
I’m still blogging full-time working with incredible businesses and Taz is accepting photography clients. We’ve met some of the most incredible people from his photoshoots and I always enjoy getting a chance to meet some more people in the area. Since we both work from home, it’s been an uphill battle getting out and getting to know people. However, every time we do, we always have a good time.
I learned more in the past six months than I have my entire career about social media. That’s absolutely insane to say, but it’s opened the door so I can dive headfirst into what I love doing. A few months ago, I became a Virtual Assistant and consultant for a couple businesses part-time. I help them grow their social media and create marketing strategies to reach their target audience. I LOVE each and every company I work with and I get so excited for every chance I have to create.
Also, Taz and I are working on a new business venture together separate from his photography and my blog. Any guesses on what that could be? We are hoping to have it up and running in the next month.
Even though these past six months felt like an eternity at times, I’m excited for where these next six months take us! If you have any other questions for Taz or I, feel free to leave them down below. Thank you so much for being supportive for us and we love you!
XOXO Kayla
