You are your own worst enemy.
I don’t typically share posts like this, but I felt like I needed to share it. This blog post is coming at you from the comfort of my own bed. I woke up this morning, hair spilling out of my ponytail and blurry eyed. I started listening to some daily inspiration from The Alison Show and how I need to overcome my self doubt and just freaking do it. I’ve never been diagnosed with anxiety but I would say I’ve had more anxious tendencies than most people. I don’t share things like this very often because I don’t believe in airing my dirty laundry out online. However, I got an impression that I needed to share this regardless of how uncomfortable it is for me.
My Story
After I got married, I went on birth control like a lot of women. I gained 40 pounds, It intensified those negative thoughts and put me into a deep depression to the point of which I could barely function. Self-doubt because the norm. “You can’t do this because of X,Y,Z…” “No one cares if you’re even there.”
I got off of it, but I found myself falling into old habits when my husband was talking about one of my future business ideas a few days ago. I became overwhelmed and started getting down on myself. He began encouraging me like always and said that when people see what you love, they begin to love it too. That can be said about anything: your body, your business, your life! I get dozens of messages every week on how to start a blog. Find your passion and get started! People will see your joy and thrive in your presence as long as you stop listening to that voice in your head.
Overcoming Self Doubt for Myself
After our announcement of moving back to Florida, I have people everyday messaging us and saying they can’t get past their fear of picking up their life and leaving where they are. If I can do it, you can do it! My mom told me my entire life that everything would work out. That’s not always my mindset but I’m working out how to overcome self doubt.
I found that the secret is to go one step at a time. Write down big goals and set smaller benchmarks on how to accomplish them. Think of three good things that went on during your day. My favorite phrase is fake it til you make it. If you choose to do the positive things each day even though it’s not what you feel like doing, those thoughts will become the first to come to mind rather than the last.
Go out there and conquer your fears. Fall in love, make plans for that trip, do what you love and don’t let anyone tear you down. If you need someone to cheer you on, I want you to find that love and encouragement here. I have a lot of self-doubt but I also have a lot of hope and hope will always trump fear.
