All things velvet from head to toe!
I love fall! Red leaves, sweaters, and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies are my favorite things to look forward to. This season, the FabFitFun fall box has the best fall style essentials and it’s a winner! Some of the best products I’ve tried this month are in this box. Here’s some of my favorites:
The Mer Sea Cozy Wrap is the coziest blanket scarf! This is the perfect addition to my fall style essentials. The fabric feels like butter and is incredibly soft! The only downfall is that it does shed, but that is easily fixed after washing.
I’ve needed a new duffel bag for months and the Private Party Gym Bag is perfect! The size fits a ton of stuff without being too bulky. They have tons of adorable sayings too so you can pick and choose your favorites.
The treStiQue Matte Color and Shiny Lip Balm Crayon is necessary for my fall style essentials. The dual sided product has a flattering color for every skin tone and goes on so smooth and buttery.
I lost my black beanie last winter so I was stoked to find The Jetset Diaries Beanie in Black in my box! It’s incredibly soft and has the cutest stitching to go with any outfit. You will definitely catch me wearing it on repeat this season.
I’ve never had a jewelry holder before now. The Imm Living Coxet Wire Heart Ceramic Jewelry Holder much smaller than I thought it would be, but it is pretty high quality and has a cool looking shape. However, if you have a huge collection of jewelry, it won’t be able to fit much.
I haven’t had a chance to use the DP Hue Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse yet. However, this is supposed to substitute for washing your hair with shampoo and conditioner once a month. It’s supposed to rejuvenate the scalp and jumpstart healthy growth. I’m super excited to start using it!
The My TagAlongs Hot & Cold Gel Pack is amazing! I have many packs that can do heat or cold, but not one that can do both. Since it is colder, I love warming it up and putting it under my feet!
Mud masks, especially the Whish Renewing Mud Mask, helps take all the toxins out of the skin while soothing and moisturizing the area. This is one of my favorites in the FabFitFun fall box! Masking is one of my favorite things to do after I get home from work and I can’t wait to include this one into my regimen.
I’ve been looking for a good cuticle oil and this one takes the cake! Deco Miami Lavender Cuticle Oil moisturizes dry, cracked cuticles for healthier skin and nails. Mine get so dry once the temperature drops and I know this will help immensely.
Every box also includes a pack of Cottonelle Fresh Care Flushable Cleansing Cloths for each customer to try out.
This box retails for $377 for everything, but you can get a FabFitFun box for a fraction of the price. Sadly, the FabFitFun fall box is sold out, but thankfully, the Editor’s Box is still available which is full of some fun fall style essentials. And guess what? I have a coupon code for you! Use code TREAT for $10 off your first order. Happy shopping!
I received the opportunity to get together with 20 blogger babes for brunch at Lemon and Sage in Springville! I worried all morning long about what to wear and how my hair wasn’t curling the way I wanted which led to my self-confidence falling. A girl mentioned to me before I went if I was worried about meeting my “competition” and I had never thought about it that way. It made me 100000x more nervous… Little did I know I had literally nothing to worry about.
As soon as I arrived at Lemon and Sage, the rest of the event was perfect! It is seriously one of the most stunning venues! Cascading flowers, beautiful food, and gorgeous women were everywhere you turned. I became overwhelmed as soon as I walked in but my fear soon went away because these girls made me feel like we were best friends for years! I associated with many of them on Instagram in the past, but I was overjoyed to finally meet them in person.
They created a handful of floral arrangements to brighten up the room even though it couldn’t have been more beautiful. The Copper Cauldron and Creme Ice cream provided the food and treats. We also had the wonderful Melea Nelson as the host and photographer to provide all the pictures for this event.
They provided some of the best food I have ever tasted: maple bacon french toast, Tahitian vanilla whipped cream and the the most INCREDIBLE baked brie! (I stayed after to find out how she made it. It was AMAZING!)
They make all organic ice cream and then freezes it using liquid nitrogen. Their main flavors include strawberry balsamic, chocolate cherry, and lemon cookie. They were all insanely good but I think the lemon cookie was my favorite.
The sweetest part of the day was being able to talk to all the bloggers there. Even though I was one of them, it was reassuring to see that they are real people too. I have always struggled with being confident in blogging and I eventually fall to comparing myself to others. I even felt embarrassed admitting I started a blog. My personality is totally an extroverted introvert. I love talking to people, but I can only recharge when I am by myself. Self-confidence in crucial to building a brand and I had never felt smaller before going to brunch. These girls helped me open up and with every minute, I felt strengthened in what I was doing. I no longer felt embarrassed or felt the need to compare. Even though we are all on different levels, I realized there is enough love and support to go around. I won’t write blog posts just to post, but I will write about what empowers me, what I’m passionate about, what I genuinely love. I am so blessed to be invited to the blogging brunch and to have met so many amazing women. Hopefully, another one will happen soon!
I know I am not a mom, but I love the new diaper backpack trend! However, majority of companies cost over $200 per bag. I love them, but not THAT much. I was so excited when I found Vauva Pack and fell in love with the simple and chic design of the bag. Vauva Pack was kind enough to give me a discount in exchange for my honest review of their product.
My Vauva Pack bag is made of a unique faux leather that is completely washable in case life happens. They also included both a changing pad and wet bag, however, I took mine out until I need it in a few years. There’s tons of different pockets and pouches to fit all of your everyday items. The insulated pouch is my favorite pouch inside that fits a water bottle perfectly! Also, on the back of the bag under the straps, there’s a pocket to hold things a little closer to you. When traveling, I would stick my passport inside to keep it away from prying eyes.
The best part about Vauva Pack is how stylish their bags are. I pack mine full of the essential items I need for work each day since I am not a mom yet. I take it everywhere! One day, my husband and I went shopping. I left to try things on in the dressing room and he ended up watching my bag. He wore it for the rest of the day without feeling embarrassed and he even forgot it was there since it is so lightweight! This goes to show that it isn’t just for the ladies. Even your man will love it!
Lucky for you, I have a discount code for 25% off using code KAYLA! Let me know what you think about them because it’s a total winner in my book. If you want to learn about my other favorite bags, click here.
Summertime is here! I wanted to share my thoughts on the recent ruffle trend going on. Honestly, I thought I was going to be the last person interested in it but I actually love how ruffles can accentuate different pieces of clothing to make it more feminine and interesting. I teamed up with Agnes and Dora to talk about 3 ways to embrace the ruffle trend.
I haven’t been into skirts very much until recently. I found a couple that I loved including this one. Typically, I am drawn to ordinary pencil skirts that match everything but the print and flounce on this one added the personality to the skirt. I crave originality in clothing. I never buy anything that I am not immediately drawn to from the start. It is hard when a large amount of people in a small area all buy similar clothing items. I liked that this one was different than all the others I had seen and had a great shape along with original style.
Another way to embrace the trend is with the popular peplum style. Peplums have been around since before I was in high school but they are one of my favorite trends. The shape is so flattering for all body types since it accentuates all the right places before pulling away from the body. It’s easily one of my favorites that I wear on a regular basis.
The most recent style and my favorite of this trend is the ruffle sleeve. I love how it dresses up a basic t-shirt with the addition. This shirt has an actually sleeve underneath too which gives another layer of modesty. The sleeve mixed with the floral print is the perfect combination.
This is one of my favorite styles since there are so many different ways to incorporate it into your outfit. Also, please share any other ways to embrace this trend in the comments below.
P.S. I changed my website around and added some things. It would really help if you sent your opinions our way and let us know if there are any glitches. Thanks!
Happy Spring! I cannot get over this weather! I love this season and the best part is that I only have three weeks until graduation. With my ongoing senioritis, I always want to come to school in sweat pants but I don’t want to sacrifice my style in the process. I teamed up with Maggie Jay Clothing to bring you this blog post about how you can find comfortable pieces while still keeping your fashion sense.
I love to be comfortable. The moment I come home, I would change into sweats or leggings but I couldn’t do this at school or in the professional atmosphere. I craved to come home to relax and let go. Whenever I buy an article of clothing, I think three things:
I was talking to a friend today about shopping. Typically, I walk into a store or browse stores online and within 5-10 minutes I always know if I’m going to buy something or not. I learned that if you aren’t drawn to it in the store, clothes will become lost in closets and drawers. It’s a waste of time and money to buy clothes that you aren’t in love with and excited to wear everyday. I know it sounds silly but if you look good, you feel good.
This is crucial! Versatile clothing helps create exponential combinations compared to that one outfit with crazy patterns that matches only one pair of shoes. Solids and minimal patterns are my go-to’s so I can mix and match for my day to day look.
This is the most important part in my opinion. I have found that if I am not comfortable, I will avoid wearing certain things. Finding comfort and style in the same piece will utilize your wardrobe to your advantage. Being able to dress things up and down will be the best way to get more out of your money’s worth.
I found all of these qualities in the clothing I received from Maggie Jay Clothing. I was introduced to the website in my early blogging days and I was immediately drawn to the colors, patterns and styles. When I received my package, I became even happier because the pieces have very flattering shapes and the fabrics are so soft. I have worn this red peplum probably three times in the past week. No joke! They are so easy to dress up and down for every occasion.
You can use code: KAYLA for 15% off your order this week so you can stock up on cute, comfortable clothing. Plus, this is the perfect time to get some summer staples for the warmer weather. To read about my other favorite pieces, click here. Happy shopping!
I hope you all have been surviving these long cold weeks of the new year and if you are somewhere warm, I am so jealous! It’s been difficult for me these past couple of weeks since I am constantly sick and the cold isn’t helping. Taz and I have a goal to go on adventures and try something new every weekend. We decided to go to Utah Lake over Martin Luther King Day since I had the day off from school. It is beautiful there! The lake was partially frozen and the sky was clear for the first time in a while. The trouble is that I have a hard time finding dresses that won’t cause me to freeze during this season. It seems that wearing a maxi dress seems to be my solution to my problem.
This maxi dress is made out of the softest material and feels like wearing a blanket. It’s incredibly comfortable and can be worn all day long. You could even wear leggings or tights underneath for added warmth.
As I have mentioned in previous posts, I am not a huge “color” person especially in the winter. I have a hard time since I gravitate towards neutrals and blush (but I still consider that a neutral since it goes with everything!) This dress was perfect for me since it combines my ideal color scheme with a feminine floral print and I love anything floral.
I found a similar style and I would love if you shared your secrets of keeping toasty in these winter months without sacrificing your fashion sense.
Today I thought I would share one of my favorite dresses that I found this summer at DownEast called the Sea Scallop dress. It is still in stores and online and is a great addition to any closet! I am someone on the taller side so it is very hard for me to find skirts/dresses that are long enough for me to wear. Thankfully, I found this red dress and fell in love with it.
I recently got the chance to start as a head anchor on Mondays and Wednesdays for KBYU so I needed to get some more pieces for my “professional” attire. I wanted to find something that I could wear that was classic but also added some personality.
The first thing I noticed is the scalloped hem and sleeves. I love scallops! It’s also that perfect shade of coral-red for summer time.
Whether your outfit choices are over-the-top or minimalistic, you can dress it up or down for any occasion. I firmly believe that every girl deserves that perfect red dress and I think I just found mine.
