How to get the most bang for your buck in your travel makeup kit
When I plan a vacation, I always pack more than I need. Over time, I discovered the essentials to creating the best travel makeup kit. I have everything I need without going overboard and not having enough room for souvenirs in the end. In this post, there are some affiliate links to some of my favorite products, but it is on no additional cost to you. Here’s all my favorites that I can’t leave home without.
Foundation
I always start with a good foundation or CC Cream. At home, I usually wear a moisturizer with SPF and then layer my foundation at home. While traveling, it’s good to kill two birds with one stone. I love the my CC cream because it starts out white, but then blends into your ideal skin coloring. It evens out my skin and protects it from sun damaging with the added SPF already included. I don’t know about you, but if I travel anywhere, it’s usually sunny. I definitely don’t want wrinkles or skin cancer so SPF is my best friend when it comes to a good foundation.
Blush
Sometimes I skip the blush all together, especially if I’m getting some sun. However, I like to bring my look to the next level with a peach or pink blush. It’s light, but adds some color to my face. This blush is my favorite one I use on a regular basis since it provides warmth and brightness to my face. Here is another good blush for neutral or cooler skin tones since it fits your coloring better, but is still bright and beautiful. This can also double as an eyeshadow for quick and easy makeup looks in my travel makeup kit
Bronzer
Bronzer is my best friend on vacation! If I get tanner on my trip, bronzer is easy to build up on top of foundation to give it the right coloring after getting some sun. I use mine also as eyeshadow and in the hollows of my cheeks to give my face dimension.
Highlighter
I always pack a good highlighter to apply to my cheekbones, over my brow bone and in the inner corners of my eyes. When I go for minimal makeup, I usually use CC cream, bronzer, brow gel and highlighter to make my face as bright and natural as I can.
Brows
I’m convinced that brows complete a face. I was looking back through old pictures last night and my brows were SOOO bad when my husband and I were dating. They’re still not fully grown out so I color mine in everyday. I found the perfect brow pencil that helps me create hair-like strokes. Then, I complete it with clear brow gel so it never moves throughout the day.
Eyeliner
I usually skip liner on vacation because it takes me too long to do. But, sometimes I’ll throw in a black liner or a fun glitter liner in case we go to dinner or anywhere fun!
Mascara
The best mascara to bring is one that won’t fall all over the face. I love this mascara even though I have to put on two coats to get the length I desire. It’s also really easy to take off which is a plus for me.
Concealer
I don’t wear a ton of concealer, especially if I go on a trip to beach, but this concealer is my favorite. It is a peach shade that cancels out dark circles really well and works with every skin tone.
Lipsticks
At any given time, I usually have 10 lipsticks in my purse no joke! I get that that’s probably excessive, but I always want to be prepared! It’s my favorite way to get different makeup looks. If you want 3 or 30, you do you! There’s so many that I love that it would take a whole post to talk about them. If you want any suggestions, feel free to ask!
Makeup Tools
I usually keep a couple brushes in my bag so I can apply my makeup. I also have a makeup sponge in my bag at all times. I recently got the Real Techniques Diamond Sponge and I love the tip to get my concealer spread evenly. It has tons of different faces to make application easy.
This is what I have in my travel makeup kit. I never leave my house without any of these products in my suitcase. What are your favorite go-to makeup products? I would love to give them a try.
